Kashipuru. The Uttarakhand government has issued approval orders for spending more than one crore rupees on the Uniform Civil Code Expert Committee of Uttarakhand. In this, 18 lakh for data entry and analysis of a large number of suggestions and GST on this will be done. The number of persons affected by the scheme has been sanctioned. This was revealed through information provided by the Home Department of Uttarakhand government to Right to Information activist Nadeem Uddin.
Kashipur-based Right to Information activist Nadeem Nadeem Uddin Advocate sought information from the Public Information Officer of the Home Department of Uttarakhand Government regarding the Uniform Civil Code Expert Committee and the expenditure on it. In response to this, Jyotirmoy Tripathi, Public Information Officer/Additional Secretary, Home Department has provided photocopies of the government’s orders regarding the constitution of the committee, sanction of expenditure in addition to the mandates for extension of the tenure.
It is clear from the analysis of the payment sanction orders available to Nadeem that till September 15, 2023, the expenditure sanction orders of the Uniform Civil Code have increased by Rs. One crore 10 lakh 63 thousand 80 rupees The number of persons affected by the scheme has been sanctioned. The largest amount of this is 18 lakhs and GST is applicable on this. A total of 21 lakh 24 thousand including approval of Government Order No. 641 dated 06 April 2023 has been taken for timely execution of the work related to data entry and analysis of the suggestions received by the committee. As per the sanction orders available to Nadeem, a total of Rs 25,19,005 was paid at the offices of the Samiti. A total of Rs. 4,30,700 will be spent on the meetings of the committee, Rs 35,000 per month honorarium for availing the services of a law intern for the work of the committee. Rs 9 lakh 10 thousand, Rs 10 lakh 78 thousand 20 on vehicle and travel expenses of committee president, Rs 15 lakh 96 thousand 146 on vehicle and travel expenses of member Manu Gaun, Rs 4 lakh 44 thousand 926 on allowances, vehicle, travel expenses of member Shatrughan Singh, Rs 1 lakh 57 thousand 295 on vehicle and travel expenses of member Pramod Kohli, Member Suresh Dangwal has been given Rs 3,36,188 on vehicle, travel expenses etc. Approval for payment of expenses has been given by the government. Apart from this, approval has been given for payment of Rs 14 lakh 66 thousand 800 on various other expenses including expenditure on public communication, officer on special duty.
As per the mandates for the constitution of the committee available to Nadeem and extension of tenure, the Uniform Civil Code Expert Committee was constituted on 27 May 2022 from G.O. No. 452. On the expiry of the term of 6 months, its term was extended by 6 months on the request of the committee from Government Order No. 1470 dated 28 November 2022. After this, its term was extended for 4 months with effect from Government Order No. 827 dated 9 May 2023.
After this, from 22 September 2023, the progress of the current work of the committee, the tenure was extended for 4 months from 27 September to analyze the suggestions received from various sources. The committee is expected to submit its report before the term ends on January 27.
